How long does the procedure take, and what is the recovery time?
The duration of the procedure depends on the which part of the body is being worked on and can range from 1 to 4 hours. After surgery, we recommend spending the night in the hospital for added peace of mind, although it’s not essential.
Recovery time varies from patient to patient, but generally, you can return to your daily activities the day after the procedure, although we advise a period of rest of 2 to 3 days.
Following surgery, you’ll wear an elasticated girdle for a few weeks to minimize swelling. Dr. Ruiz will prescribe the necessary medications and antibiotics to ease discomfort and prevent infections.
Stitches either dissolve on their own or are removed 7 to 10 days after the procedure, and the resulting scars are minimal. Dr. Maribel Ruiz will provide guidance on postoperative care to ensure they heal optimally.
What is the cost of Liposuction in Málaga?

Where will my Liposuction take place?
Your liposuction procedure will be carried out in a first class hospital in Málaga or the Costa del Sol. These state-of-the-art operating rooms boast dedicated facilities, fully equipped to handle even the most intricate surgical procedures. Furthermore, they feature the latest technological advancements managed by highly skilled professionals.
What does the Liposuction procedure involve?
Liposuction is performed using a cannula (tube) or microcannula to extract fat from beneath the skin’s surface. This procedure should only be undertaken by a qualified professional like Dr. Maribel Ruiz.
What type of scarring does this procedure leave?
Scarring is minimal, as the incisions made with the scalpel are just 2 to 3 millimeters in size.
The tiny scar can be treated with creams or silicone patches to further reduce the visibility, however they are normally nearly imposible to see.
Who is the ideal candidate for Liposuction?
The ideal candidate is someone of normal weight but has excess fat in specific areas of the body. Despite maintaining a healthy diet and exercise regimen, these stubborn fat pockets remain a concern.
The candidate’s overall health and any existing medical conditions should also be taken into account. Liposuction is not recommended for pregnant individuals, overweight patients, or for older patients because with older patient, the skin does not naturally re-adapt, requiring additional surgery to solve the problem of loose or excess skin.
Dr. Maribel Ruiz conducts a thorough assessment of the patient’s surgical needs and expectations to ensure that the liposuction proceedure achieves a realistic, achievable outcome.
What are the benefits of Liposuction?
Liposuction gives you a significant physical transformation, enhancing the your contours, silhouette and overall body shape and, for many patients, it also improves mobility and reduces the risk of heart-related conditions.
Aside from the physical aspect, it boosts confidence, self-esteem, and overall quality of life. Patients often embrace a healthier lifestyle, not only in terms of nutrition but also daily activity, helping them maintain the results of their liposuction.
Where, on the body, can Liposuction be performed?
Abdomen and Waist:
As people age, the waist and abdomen tend to accumulate stubborn localized fat that can be effectively removed with liposuction. In cases where the skin is loose and sagging, we recommend considering a tummy tuck.
Chin, Cheeks, and Neck:
Liposuction in the upper neck area can slenderize the jawline, reduce a double chin, and enhance the overall youthful appearance.
Thighs, Knees, Calves, and Ankles:
Liposuction in these areas can create a slimmer leg profile, depending on factors such as morphology, genetics, skin elasticity, and the amount of fat that can be safely removed. It is typically more effective in the upper thigh, inner thigh, and outer thigh regions.
Breasts:
For women concerned about scarring resulting from breast reduction surgery, liposuction can be an alternative. It removes excess fat, contributing to a more slender silhouette without visible scars in subtle and gentle reshaping.
Back and Bra Line:
Sometimes, bras can create uncomfortable ‘rolls’ above and below the line, and liposuction provide a perfect solution to this.
Upper Arms:
Excess fat in the upper arms can be addressed with liposuction. However, not all patients are suitable candidates because significant weight loss can lead to loose skin that should be addressed beforehand. Additionally, liposuction of the upper arms tends to be more effective in the upper arm.
Hips and Buttocks (glutes):
The hips and buttocks are common areas for fat accumulation in women. Liposuction can eliminate this fat, providing patients with a more natural and aesthetic contour.
Is Liposuction treatment risk-free?
Liposuction ranks among the world’s most commonly performed procedures, and its associated risks are exceedingly low.
Complications are very unusual; however, the potential ones are: unsatisfactory results, infection, changes in skin sensitivity, bleeding, or unusual scarring.
How does Dr. Maribel Ruiz perform Liposuction?
Can Liposuction be performed simultaneously with another surgery?
Yes, it is common to combine Liposuction with procedures such as Abdominoplasty, Brachioplasty, or breast augmentation. This approach optimizes operating room time, anesthesia, personnel, and significantly reduces expenses: one consultation, one procedure, one post-operative period.
Is the Liposuction procedure painful?
No, the patient will be under sedation and won’t feel any discomfort. The fat removal process occurs after the injection of fluids that facilitate fat detachment, making it a gentle treatment. As a result, the body doesn’t perceive it as an aggression, leading to a less painful post-operative experience with reduced discomfort, bruising, and swelling. Any occasional discomfort that may arise after liposuction is entirely normal, as the patient has undergone surgery.
Is Liposuction permanent?
The fat is permanently removed. Liposuction eliminates a significant number of fat cells that will not return, but to maintain its effects, one must maintain a healthy diet and engage in physical activity. Liposuction does not guarantee that a patient won’t gain weight or accumulate fat again.
The goal of Liposuction is not weight loss but rather addressing problematic areas of localized fat that do not respond to physical activity or diet.
How much fat can be removed in a single Liposuction procedure?
There are safety limits, and it is not recommended to suction in excess of 4 liters of fat. The extraction of fat disrupts the body’s fluid balance, so if there are remaining areas after reaching the recommended maximum in a liposuction, additional treatments can be performed approximately two months later.
Is the result of Liposuction immediate?
The patient should wait for the inflammation to subside and the skin to tighten. The final result will be noticeable between 1 and 3 months after the procedure, provided there is no significant weight gain.
What is the difference between Liposculpture and Liposuction?
Although there are no differences between the two concepts, Liposculpture refers to the shaping aspect of Liposuction, where the suctioned fat is transferred to other parts of the body. In other words, it sculpts the body by removing fat from one area and placing it in another.
